Biking isn’t just a Downtown, West Side or Long Beach thing.

Though many bicycle coalitions, groups, and clubs form in cities most known for bike-friendliness, others are gaining ground in areas that may fall just outside of the bike utopia bubble.

The Pomona Valley Bicycle Coalition (PVBC), a chapter of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC), is approaching its one-year anniversary of creating a more bike-able Pomona Valley. Some of PVBC’s goals are to create educational workshops, host more rides, and increase awareness for safety.

This movement is bringing bike lovers, including me, out of the foothills, pastures, old towns, and suburban neighborhoods of Pomona valley. Residents of neighboring cities of Pomona are encouraged to participate, including but not limited to: Chino, Walnut, Diamond Bar, Claremont, Montclair, La Verne, San Dimas, and more. The list goes on. There’s no official roster of which cities are included in the Pomona valley area, so it’s up to you to decide if this group is for you.

If you’re interested in becoming involved, please contact the Pomona Valley Bicycle Coalition through one of the avenues below or attend a meeting. Pomona Valley Bicycle Coalition meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 6 to 7 p.m. Locations change monthly.
